Why it is Important to Clean Your Leg Pockets

All of us barnacles have leg pockets. They are found on the inner part of our lower leg.

  1. Salt naturally forms in this secluded space, and you may notice it start to stink every now and then. We all know personal hygeiene, and no one wants to be around a stinky barnacle.

  2. If a leg pocket is left uncleaned for too long, you will start to turn bright pink. Bright pink barnacles are highly frowned upon because of their neglectance, so it really isn’t the best look.

  3. A sign that your leg pocket is in dire need of cleaning is abnormal and frequent yellow fluid oozing from the pocket. This is very noticable, and can be uncomfortable. Once again, this is greatly frowned upon (though, the the fluid is very delicious, so be sure to take a lick whenever you get the chance to).

  4. Fellow barnacles will not accept you if you have a dirty leg pocket. Sure, some undireable barnacles may care less about it, but is that really what you want? Hanging around other dirty, crusty, smelly, oozy, flaky leg pockets?

If you suffer from Barnalistic Salt Disease please contact your local marine biologist for help.

Some home remedies consist of:

  1. Simply using your extra long finger nails to really dig in there and scoop that salt right up. If you have any pets, feel free to share your special leg snack with them. They will think it is bussin.

  2. Soak your leg in bleach. This will remove all of your dead skin and overgrown salt and give your skincells the opportunity to start a fresh new life.
